HighEdWeb Announces … Regionals 2015

The Higher Education Web Professionals Association’s mission is to “strive to advance web professionals, technologies and standards in higher education.” We do this in a variety of ways, including providing top-notch professional development opportunities in our conferences and workshops.

And exactly because they are such an important part of our mission, we’re particularly excited to announce the 2015 HighEdWeb Regional Conference schedule:

HighEdWeb Regional Conferences are designed to be smaller one- or two-day events, highlighting the knowledge and presentations of Web professionals in your area. Local, low cost and a great value, Regionals are the perfect way to get in your spring professional development — and are a great prelude to our big HighEdWeb Annual Conference, to be held this October in Milwaukee, WI!

Regional Conference registration is limited, so be sure to visit your region’s conference website to learn more about these events.

Call for 2014 Regional Conferences

It’s intense. It’s rewarding. It’s hosting a 2014 HighEdWeb Regional Conference. And we want you to find out how great it is firsthand:

Submit a proposal by April 30 to host a Spring 2014 regional conference in your area. The 2014 regional conference schedule will be announced at the HighEdweb annual conference this October.

“Planning a regional event, while work-intensive, gives both planning committee members and conference attendees an incredible opportunity to make a positive impact on our community and the field of higher education,” said Steve Lewis, Higher Education Web Professionals Association board member. Regional conference committee members also gain the opportunity to network with peers and interact with presenters, to present ideas to the larger community, and to engage in quality professional development at a reasonable cost.

A limited number of regional conferences will be approved. The location and number of each will be based on the strategic goals established by the governing board of HighEdWeb, and will be decided by factors including:

  • Location in relation to other proposed regionals.
  • Location in relation to the 2014 annual conference in Portland, OR.
  • Proposed committee and staffing.
  • Regional institutions and host facility.
  • Success of past conferences in the area, if applicable.

Please note that all potential regional conference hosts must submit a proposal each year, regardless of past history or experience of hosting a HighEdWeb conference. As well, if there are multiple applications from a given geographic region, only one will be approved and other applicants will be encouraged to work with the approved regional committee.

Submit your 2014 regional conference proposal via our online application, see our website for more information, or contact Tonya Oaks Smith, HighEdWeb regionals conference chairperson, at tosmith@ualr.edu or @marleysmom.
