From our members

Joining HighEdWeb has been the smartest investment in my professional development.

I specifically mean professional development and not career, because the collaborative spirit and service-oriented attitude towards my community that I gained by participating in the Association are invaluable tools for me in this career and the next, and the next.
Janice Cheng-McConnell
Assistant director of graduate enrollment communications for Syracuse University Maxwell School

HighEdWeb, for me, is about learning, sharing ideas and experiences.

And giving back to a wonderful community of professionals who inspire me and respect and welcome people who look like me with open (socially distant) arms. The relationships I’ve built along the way and that I lean on throughout the year have made me a better marketer, leader, and person.
Joshua Charles
Director of web governance and communications for Rutgers Business School

Events

HighEdWeb continues to increase the number of events we offer annually. The events include conferences, networking and community group sessions.

From the evaluations

I love HighEdWeb year after year.

It was just great to open my head to new ideas and listen to others’ talk and learn from their successes and mistakes.
2020 Annual Conference attendee

Great conference!

I really liked the small group discussions on the Slack Channel. I think that was a great way to get people to network/engage.
2020 Accessibility Summit Attendee

By far the most fun group.

A great place for people to show their work and get into presenting if that’s a goal.
2020 Annual Conference presenter

Professional Development Library

The library of recordings and resources is a key membership benefit. Each year the library grows — and paid members have access to all the content.

Volunteering

Volunteers powers the association activities and events. Volunteer roles include presenters, committee members and short-term gigs.

We are so grateful to everyone that shares their expertise and knowledge.

New initiatives

2019: Community Groups formed

Community Groups provide a path for members to connect with their peers and experts in different industries. Group topics included analytics, accessibility, web governance, Drupal, social media, management and leadership, project management and email marketing.

2020: Accessibility Summit and Annual Conference moved online

We held our first online conferences in 2020. While we missed connecting in person, the format welcomed attendees from across the globe. Both conferences also had record attendance.

2020: Volunteer Rewards Program approved

This Volunteer Rewards Program recognizes the service of our volunteers. Volunteers earn points for service in 2021, and then spend those points on rewards in 2022.

Leadership

Our community works together.

We share best practices and lessons learned with each other. This spirit of collaboration is exemplified by the Association’s Board of Directors. This group of dedicated volunteers works year-round to help guide and mold the future of the Association.

Financials

2020 was a tough year in many ways, including financially. But HighEdWeb has a strong financial foundation. We’re prepared to move forward and meet the learning needs of our community.

Sponsors

HighEdWeb truly appreciates the support of our sponsors and partners. Because of their support, conference registration costs were kept low while allowing exceptional special events and keynotes. These organizations provided support for our 2019 and 2020 events and activities.
